Lily and Libby

I posted a photo of Lily earlier this summer. Today both Lily and Libby came to school to visit their "mommy" who works there. They are so cute. They have little cushion beds on the back seat of the car for when they go for a ride.

Pip was waiting for me again tonight. :-)

Pip's Back

I didn't mention it but Pip has been MIA since September 13th. Tonight she came back and was waiting in the rabbitry for me when I got home. She ate the pellets I offered her and posed for some photos by the lilac bush before retreating to her protected place behind the rabbitry. We're glad she's back. :-)

At Least Somebody Had Some Fun....

...this weekend. It has rained here everyday since last Sunday. We planned a wonderful fall camp out. It started raining in earnest on Friday night just as we were rolling out of the driveway. The rain gauge on my porch showed 3 inches this afternoon. Needless to say the camp out was mostly a camp in - in the in-laws motor home. Daisy and I baled out at 7:30 this morning and came home. Andrew got home around noon. Elisha and Ian went to Homecoming last night. They had fun and don't they look cute?

Lynd's Fruit Farm

We took advantage of the nice weather and got out this morning before the rains came and made our annual fall trip to Lynd's fruit farm over near Pataskala. I bought some fall decor including Indian corn, pumpkins and a potted mum. We also go a half peck of Honey Crisp apples; which are the best in the world.

A Wool Gathering

"A Wool Gathering" annual fiber event was held at Youngs Dairy Farm in Yellow Springs, Ohio today. My friend Lisa had booth to sell her wonderful Blue Faced Leicester's wool and I kept her company and sold 2 French angora bunnies, some of my photo cards and a bunch of the angora pins that I made especially for the show. We had a nice time, visited with some of our "rabbit friends", and the weather was, luckily, cool. Mom and four of my aunts stopped by to shop, enjoy the festival and eat some of the icecream for which Youngs is famous.

Taking a Break

This is the first week of classes at the college where I work. It has been pretty busy. My co-workers from the building across the gymnasium came over today and we all took a walk to the business office, on the other side of campus, to pay some bills. Here we are-after being accused of goofing off- posing for a photo. We did this because, coincidentally, we all wore about the same outfit.

Resident Frog

This is our resident frog. He lives in the small pond near the rabbitry. He showed up in mid July just out of the blue. In a few weeks we are going to have to move him to a nearby pond so he has an ample supply of mud to burrow into and food to eat for the winter. We've had the pond for four years-this is the first frog we have been able to attract.

Paw Paw Trees

Andrew planted a hand full of pawpaw seeds about three years ago. He has been babying them along ever since. He has a lot of patience. We have five little trees and this is what they look like today. As you can see it takes a long time to grow a paw paw tree. Click here for more information on the paw paw.

Girl's Night

I haven't been to a sleep over since jr high. My aunt is in town from Tucson so a few of us girls in the family decided to have stay over at my other aunt's last night so we could visit. We had a great time catching up and looking at each others photos and in general acting silly. Unfortunately I didn't get much sleep and am thinking of taking a nap as I type. LOL4 sheets to the wind after a single glass of wine...

Polishing nails and getting neck massages where some of the nights activities...

Lots of snacking ...
and goofing around in the kitchen going on...
And some relaxing and watching Jeff Foxworthy on Comedy Central...

Where Were You?

I was at my desk, just like I am today, watching with horror as the world stopped turning...

Please take a moment today to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/01

Satin Angora Beauties

These are my three Satin babies that were born in June. They have the sweetest personalities and are excellent show prospects. They come from a pairing of Somerhill Phazana (winner of BOB satin angora at the Ohio State Convention) and Jailbird's Rupert (winner of BOS satin angora at the Ohio State Convention). I'm keeping them all for myself. I'm officially addicted to Satin Angoras.

Wavy Lace Shawl Part II

I finished the wavy lace shawl (previously discussed in my Aug 12 post) which I was knitting to wear to my cousin's wedding. Here is a photo of me modeling it prior to the wedding. It was perfect for a chilly evening in Colorado.

Jewelweed

Jewelweed or Touch Me Not is a common flood plane plant. If you get into nettles you can crush the stem and cure the burn. Usually where there are nettles there are jewel weed plants. When we were kids we called them "fairy hats" because they look like little hats. They are also a favorite of hummingbirds. Here is a photo of the flower covered in dew. It grows at a park near our house.

Emily's Wedding

The Lake House in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado was the setting for my cousin Emily's wedding this past Friday night. The weather was perfect and the bride and groom looked like Barbie and Ken. After the ceremony, as if on cue, several elk came down the mountainside to drink from the lake. A good time was had by all.

Hatch Green Chilies

Mom and I went to Denver last Thursday to attend my cousin's wedding. As we were driving down the street toward our accommodations at the home of another cousin I noticed a sign that said Chili Festival. That was all I needed to start my mission to get some chilies- as in peppers (and not stew). If you are familiar with hatch green chilies you may know that you can only get them once a season in August. They are grown in New Mexico-something particular about the climate. My brother brought back a 25 pound bag of them when he went to New Mexico several years ago and we have been craving more ever since. Anyway I told my cousin that we were staying with that I had to have some green chilies to take home. He said there was a farmer's market on the weekend that we could attend and he was sure they would have them there. On Saturday we went to the market and I got a couple pounds of them to bring home. The proprietor was roasting them at the market and he gave me one to try. Yum. I brought them home the next day and we stuffed them with sausage, onions, cheddar and jack cheeses and roasted them in the oven for an hour and then topped them off with fresh homemade salsa and sour cream. The house smelled so good after and you talk about delicious...
