New Years Eve with the Buns

We spent the afternoon and early evening at the annual Clinton County Rabbit Breeders show with fellow angora breeders where a good time was had by all. I showed Satin Angoras and a French Angora. My SA's, Blackberry and Marcus, took Best and Best Opposite of Breed. This gives Blackberry her Grand Champion status. Now it's 10 pm and I can hardly keep my eyes open. Happy New Year everyone!!Me & Andrew

The Bell Doll

While browsing in an antique shop last month I came upon this doll that I immediately knew I had to have for my collection. It's a Bell doll, a 1960's doll designed exclusively for the Telephone Pioneers of America (aka Ohio Bell in Ohio) where my dad worked for 33 years. She's complete with hat, jacket and phone tester and depicts a telephone repairman. We all had jackets in the early 70's like the one the doll is wearing and we have lots of other Bell memorabilia from over the years.

Dicken's Village Cambridge, Ohio

Andrew and I went to Cambridge today to see the Dickens Village-comprised of 185 life sized Victorian characters, most of them on Wheeling Avenue in the downtown. We also had lunch at Theo's. It was a lot of fun and I got a chance to try out my new Pentax W90 camera. I wanted to do this last year after reading about the display on a friend's blog but we didn't get a chance. Next year I want to make my own Dicken's character's for our front yard. Stay tuned for that part but I figure if I can make a ground hog head from papermache I can make about anything.A knitterThe carolers with guest soloist

What's for Dinner?

Zorro met me at dusk at the door of the rabbitry last night. He was looking for dinner. He's been there most nights since the snow has covered the ground; sometimes he jumps up and joins Andrew on our deck in the morning for a few breakfast morsels. I fed him and then he went on a merry jaunt around the yard and then came back to the rabbitry entrance and peeked in and watched me feed everyone else. Crazy rabbit. We haven't seen Pip since mid October which isn't too unusual as she disappears from fall until March most years. Zorro waiting to be fed

The Huron Lighthouse

We had Christmas with Andrew's family on Sunday. While we were in Huron we decided to take a walk out to the Huron lighthouse. It was mighty cold and the pier was icy. I stayed way over on the inside edge. The lake was pretty and we even saw some ducks including an Old Squaw.Looking down the rocky part of the pier

More Mitts

I've been knitting up a storm. Or at least a partial storm. My fingers actually hurt. Here are two more pairs of mitts. The red is BFL and the brown/gold are made from the last remains of my wool from Wales.

Chicks & Wine 2010

Our wine group had its holiday gathering last night. There are 10 of us and sometimes we have a guest or two in attendance as well. We had a blast with a great group of women ages 25-84. The hostesses out did themselves as always with wonderful gourmet food. We each brought two bottles of wine-one to drink and one to trade and $10 with the money being pooled and a person's name drawn who got to decide what charity that would receive the funds. We also exchanged little gifts and baked goodies.Lots of wine
