Bark Box

I've seen lots of ads for Bark Box,  in recent weeks. It's a subscription service that provides dog goodies once a month.  I had been thinking about trying it out for Nolan & Lacy but for some reason hesitated.  When I got an offer for a $5 trial box I decided to go ahead.  Our $5 box was outdoor picnic themed and contained two interactive toys-a cloth cherry pie with 4 removable cherries that squeak and a bunch of cloth flowers held together by a band that can come off so the pups can play with the whole bunch or just one flower.  There were three full sized of treats as well. All of the treats were made in the USA.  Our second box came yesterday.  Again there were three full sized bags of treats and two interactive toys. One toy was a lunch bag and inside was a  half of sandwich and a cookie all made of cloth. The lunch bag has a material inside that makes it rustle and the sandwich and cookie squeak. There is also a couple of notes made of cloth. One of the notes says Do you want to sniff my butt? And there are boxes to check yes, no or maybe.  I give the service an A+. The toys are high quality and the treats are USA or Canadian made and I can't buy all that for $20 in the store.  The dogs love it and get really excited when the boxes comes out and I tell them it's theirs.  It's fun for us too-waiting to see what cute theme Bark Box has come up with for the current month.

Franklinton

On Sunday we traveled to Franklinton, the oldest community in Central Ohio, to partake of some beverages at the Landgrant Brewing Company.  We had seen an interesting PBS special on Franklinton so we decided to walk around the area a bit after drinking a Deep Search brew (which was amazing by the way) and dining on kolaches from the Kolache Republic and brats. It was a beautiful blue sky day and not too humid so we enjoyed our walk through a village in the state of urban renewal which was a refreshing and welcome change from urban decay and rampant sprawl that one sees as they get closer to the burbs.

Late Summer Saturday

Taking advantage of a late summer day with low humidity in the forecast we did some traveling today. First stop was Pearl King savanna, a Metro Park land holding not currently open to the public, to check on some prairie blooms.  The prairie drop seed grass was a highlight today and we also saw stiff sunflower and whorled rosinweed.  From there we went to TSC in London for rabbit feed and meds and then took the back roads to Young's Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs for lunch. After lunch we went a mile south of Young's on Route 68 to visit the Whitehall Sunflower Farm which is part of the Tecumseh land trust you can read about here.  The sunflowers were beautiful and the west side of the field was the least congested so that's where we went. The pups had a good time and seemed to enjoy the sunflowers as much as we did. Of course Nolan had to pee on every piece of vegetation and get into as much dirt as possible but that's how he is and we love him anyway.

Friday Night on the Town

This is as wild as it gets around here. My cousin and her hubby are in town from North Carolina for their twin granddaughters 2 year birthday party this weekend. We all met at Jimmy V's this evening (5 adults (including my godson-dad to the girls), two children and two dogs-theirs) and acted like a bunch of goofs.  Then we went next door to Graeters and got icecream before calling it a night. The little girls were darling, the dogs were well behaved and we had a lot of fun visiting!  Times like these make me hate that my cousins are all out of town.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

We went to see the Columbus Clippers play this evening at Huntington Park with our friends Robin & Tracy. Tracy works for the Kroger Co. and got seats in their loge and an up front parking pass and when he called to invite us I jumped at the chance to go. It's hard to recall the last time I went to a baseball game-probably mid 90's in Cleveland.  And I have wanted to check out Huntington Park because I have heard so much about how nice it is.  We had a great time eating not good for you but good food from the concession stand and enjoyed perfect for baseball weather complete with beautiful sunset.  Robin won a Homage tee shirt with her entry ticket and we got our photos taken with Krash.
