It poured down rain this morning and carried on with lightening and thunder for about 2 hours. We really needed the rain. Lacy threw up on the bedspread this morning, probably from eating Skittles, and so I washed it and at lunch time took it out of the washer and hung it to dry. I let the pups out to potty and Nolan decided he needed to "ant" himself in the dirt and then they both came in, posed for a photo and then ran and jumped on the bed sans spread and decided to look as cute as possible to avoid my wrath. Its like camping around here with all the dirt. Thankfully they are both getting groomed later in the week which, in addition to cleaning them up, will be a relief from the heat.
Our little world at home on the urban prairie and along life's highway with Nolan & Lacy the Bichons Frises.

Senior Show
Elisha is graduating this Sunday. She is an Art major with an Art History
minor. As part of their graduation requirements she had to have a senior
exhibit to show her work. Her show (along
with two of her classmates) was on May 4th in the art gallery.
Her works were all done with repurposed items. Her 3-D piece
(the double doors) contained 36 panels with each side representing a family
member in her family tree. One side was her mom’s family and one side was her
dad’s family. All of the individual tiles were hand lettered.
Her other works were framed 6 word memoirs. She asked 16 of her closest friends from
throughout her life to participate. Each of the memoirs is also hand lettered
and the fabric behind the lettering was submitted by the person for whom she
drew the memoir. (We think these could be good sellers if she did custom
orders). All of the frames here were repurposed as well.
The event was very well attended and all of the artwork was really well done. We
are very proud of all that she has accomplished in the past four years.

All of us
Elisha with one of her favorite professors and his wife who also happens to be our University's President. We were honored to have them in attendance.
And while Elisha was in the lab working on her doors I was next door making a ceramic Nolan which I painted and she glazed for me the following week. Not bad for a first attempt if i do say so myself.

King George
I’ve been a George Strait fan since he came on to the
country music scene in 1981 and have seen
in him concert a couple times. When the press release came out last fall that
George was doing his farewell tour I immediately checked the tour
schedule for dates. I signed up on the
arena website and got advance notice and was able to buy tickets a day prior to
when they went on sale for the general public in October so we got great seats
almost on the floor. This past Saturday
night was the big night and we traveled to Lexington Kentucky to see George and
Martina McBride’s The Cowboy Rides Away
tour. I splurged and got a room at the
Hyatt which is attached to the arena so that made it extra nice in that we didn’t
have to fight traffic before or after the show. Martina sang for an hour and
then the stage was reset and George played for just short of three hours
including a couple of encores. It was
hands down the best concert I have ever seen. The sound was fantastic and
George was, as always spectacular. Even
hubby (the classic rock fan) said George was a great entertainer. The tour runs
through June 2013 with more dates to be announced for 2014. If he comes with in
a 3 hour radius in 2014 we are going again!!
