Harbor Winds

Woke up this morning to perfect weather and packed up our gear and the pups and headed to Lake Erie to see visit our good friends Robin and Tracy at their lakeside weekend getaway. Had a wonderful time relaxing in the sunshine on their newly restored (by them) 1981 Marinette. It was a little too windy to go out on the lake fishing which was fine by us; but the guys did spend some time fishing off the docks and they caught a couple bass. We spent the day around their place and eventually decided to venture out to the Dairy Dock a few miles down the road to get some ice cream and visit the Marblehead Lighthouse.  I've been to that lighthouse so many times I can't recall the exact number and I never get tired of standing on the Lake Erie shore and taking in the sight of it. Nolan and Lacy made a new friend in Emmett the yellow lab and they were pooped pups by the time we went home. We had a fabulous dinner of grilled pork and zucchini and spent the rest of the evening putzing around and sitting out on the boat. A wonderful day spent with friends was capped off by a stunning sunset on the way home.

Ice Fishing Adventure

A trip to East Harbor on Lake Erie for an ice fishing adventure made for a fun Saturday on what otherwise would have turned out to be a pretty ho hum weekend.  Although we didn't catch a single fish we had a great time being outside and enjoying the company of our friends.

Lake Freighters in Ohio

Whirlwind trip to the Huron River/Lake Erie to see the freighters Adam Cornelius and John Boland and the tug Champion docked at the Huron limestone docks in order to provide another adventure for the cousins on their gap year trip.
