Back to the Wild

One of my students, who is a pre-vet major, did a service project this past term and collected needed items for Back to the Wild Wildlife wildlife rehabilitation center. They are totally funded by donations and care for thousands of injured wildlife each year. We took all the items she collected and dropped them off at Back to the Wild. Afterward we went to visit Andrew's family for Thanksgiving. We watched the OSU game and then had a tasty meal at his sisters house.

Thanksgiving

We had a nice Thanksgiving with mom and dad and my brother yesterday. Mom made the turkey and brother, hubby and I made the side dishes and the kids  (E & B) brought pumpkin cheese cake.  We had a nice visit with uncle Dave and aunt Patty and uncle Henry as well. After lunch we played a quick game of mahjong and spent some time visiting.

Nolan & Lacy "guarding" the turkey (which was delicious) They are so sweet.
Family around the table

Today we opted outside. We both hate shopping and the commercialism of Christmas so it was a no brainer for us. We would have been outside anyway.  Took a hike to Big Walnut Creek this morning and then spent the afternoon with Andrew's college roommate and his wife who were headed north to his mom's house. We haven't seen them for a couple years so that was a lot of fun too!

Little Snugglers

It finally got cold this weekend. The pups were lounge-abouts.  Where one goes the other follows...

Their coats remind us of candy.
Lacy is a Sundaes Neapolitan Coconuts and Nolan is a Peppermint Patty.

Friendsgiving

Got together with friends Saturday night for a "Friendsgiving".  We had herb roasted tenderloin, salad, baked potatoes, Moscow mules to drink and cookie brownies for dessert. It was superb dinner and we watched Finding Dory (which I have been wanting to see) with the kids afterward.  Great movie btw.  I was eight when my friend Traci was born-she lived two doors from me growing up and we've been friends ever since. Lucky that we live in the same town now even though we don't see each other near as often as we would like.

Lacy's New Coat

I knitted Lacy a coat this weekend. Daisy had one that I made for her. Nolan got a knitted coat in fall of 2014 and I wanted to make one for Lacy before I have surgery on my left hand. I put Nolan's coat on him so he would feel special too.  Lacy always squints when I take her picture and Nolan just looks like he is so thrilled but they sit and pose willingly. Both coats are knitted from the same brand of yarn using the same pattern.

Fall Canoe Trip

First time out in the vintage Blackriver canoe that Andrew "inherited" from his dad and uncle Bill since they are no longer doing any canoeing.  Big Darby Creek from Alkire Road launch to Osprey Lake in Darbydale.

Fall color

Love the mature maples in our neighborhood. They never fail to disappoint with a variety of fall color.
