Our lilacs bloomed this week. We have a purple, a white and a sapling of a yet undetermined color. The purple bush has been here forever. The white bush we planted for our 10th anniversary in 2009 and this is the first year it has really had more than just a couple blooms. My mom gave us the sapling last year and it's going to take awhile to get going. The cooler weather is helping the blooms stay fresh longer this year. The scent is so nice. I have always loved lilacs. My great-grandparents had a hedge row of huge lilac bushes and in the spring they allowed us to gather big bouquets of them. I liked to put my whole face in the bunch and inhale.

Beautiful photography Annette!!!
Your lilacs are way ahead of ours!!! The fragrance is so wonderful in the spring of the year!!! About the time the lillacs stop blooming our Honeysuckle picks up the slack. :- D
I LOVE'UM BOTH!!!!!!!!!
Sheesh! I'm glad spring has sprung somewhere....our lilacs are just starting to get leaf buds.
They are beautiful Annette.
Beautiful photography, as usual. Our french lilacs didn't do much this year. They're not very full and sort of brown at the tips. I think I'm going to prune them back pretty severely. My Korean lilacs are just coming into bloom, though, and your post has inspired me to run out in the rain and gather some!

Bonus points if you know who wrote that. (Hopefully, I quoted it properly!)
