Skunked

I haven't been to J Alexanders for 20 years so when our friends Robin and Tracy suggested having dinner there I was pretty excited.  We met last evening and had a lovely dinner and lively discussion and also belatedly celebrated mine and Andrew's birthday (Aug 14 & 16) which was unexpected and much appreciated.  The prime rib was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed 2 lemon drop martinis and a couple bites of carrot cake.  Very relaxing night.  We arrived home around 9:30 pm and I proceeded to get into my pi's and was just about ready to call it a night when Andrew opened the back door and yelled in and said, "you are going to be really unhappy".  Just what I wanted to hear after such a wonderful night out.  He then informs me that Nolan has been sprayed by a skunk.  Forty five minutes later after giving Nolan a bath in Dawn dish washing liquid mixed with peroxide and baking soda our home returned to a semi normal state and two pooped peeps and two pooped pups finally got to sleep. Nolan somehow managed to get sprayed inside the rabbitry and this morning when I went outside to feed them it smelled like a stink bomb went off inside and all the rabbits stunk to high heaven and they cannot be bathed so we will just have to wait for the smell to dissipate. I left for work this morning and came home for lunch and opened the front door and the entire house smelled of skunk. I lit a couple candles last night and apparently we got used to the odor during the night.  Needless to say we will be going beyond doing the whiff test from now on when we open the back door. We've always had skunks and had a close call with Nolan earlier this summer and once Daisy had an encounter with a baby skunk but she just wanted to mother it and did not get sprayed. And as my friend so aptly pointed out-that's what you get when you make your yard into a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat. Pee eww!

From candlelight to skunk bath in .05 secs... lol

Poor Nolan - the pretty black and white "kitty" did not want to play.
