Marcus was in a yoga pose - stretched out with his butt in the air -last night when I went out to feed everybunny dinner. It was as if he was in a trance and meditating. He actually held the pose for several minutes while I ran for the camera, opened the cage door, and fiddled around taking a couple images. I call the pose downward facing rabbit. Please excuse his appearance as he has had three haircuts this summer in order to keep him comfortable in the sweltering heat.

Go Buckeyes!
A trip to Bigalow Prairie today proved to be productive as the buckeyes (Junonia coenia) were out in force. One of my favorite butterfly species, the buckeye is a striking butterfly that is easily distinguished by the large eye spots on its body. Nothing like those nutty other buckeyes in scarlet and gray. : - )

Three Days Post Op
Look mom no hands! Mom made it through the hip joint replacement with flying colors. She has to use the walker for 2 weeks and is on restricted activity for 6. Otherwise she is good to go with no hip pain and just a small amount of pain in the muscle of her thigh where they went in to do the work. No muscles were cut and the incision is only 3 inches long.

Pre-Fall
Loving the cooler weather. Fall is in the air and the leaves are even starting to change. Who is ready to pull out their woolly sweaters?

Hip Hooray
Mom's getting her hip replaced tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning. We filmed her before so the Allied Health students at our University could do a gait analysis with the new (and expensive) software we bought for them to use in their Modalities class. We'll do a follow-up later. Mom's hasn't been able to walk much and has been in a lot of pain for the past couple years and we found out on Aug 22nd that she needed a new hip. In six weeks she'll be good as new.

Hot Cross Buns
Luckily I cranked up the fans in the rabbitry before I left for work this morning. When I got home the buns were not enjoying the resurgence of heat. Actually I wasn't either. Norman had his face in his water bowl to keep cool and as soon as I opened his door he came forth to be held. He's the biggest baby ever! He's up to about 20# now. Mom told me that when she took care of them on vacation he would have let her pet him all day. He's no dummy. LOL
