A Walk in the Woods

This afternoon's walk in the woods yielded the following:

The first wildflower of spring-Skunk Cabbage. Pictured is the bloom.

Shed deer antlers

An opossum skull (top and bottom jaw bones) that I walked right past and Andrew spied.

An abandoned gold finch nest. Gold finch are the last birds in Ohio to nest and they line their nests with thistle seed down.

It was nice to get out and about.

what a lovely walk! i'd like to walk in the woods with you and andrew! i have such a hard time noticing and identifying such treasures (although sometimes, my dogs find them for me).

It looks like it was a fun walk. Now that Spring is here and the weather is better I plan to get out and see what's going with the plants. i saw a weasel not too long ago when I was out for a ride in the country.
