Oh My Mimosa !

Our mimosa looks lovely this year. Probably the most prolific number of blooms I've seen since we got it 10 years ago from Mount Ida, Arkansas. Prior to that I had never seen one and instantly fell in love with the tree. Andrew dug one up for me brought it home and planted it in the front yard. In the winter it looks pathetic and got nipped to the ground twice by squirrels but finally prevailed (after we fenced it off). People in the neighborhood often stop us when we are outside to ask about the tree. The blooms, when slightly wilted have a scent that reminds me of jasmine or gardenia.

And since it scorching hot out today-unseasonably so; I thought I would include the following recipe for a Mimosa - a cocktail having two parts of thoroughly chilled orange juice combined with three parts champagne. Bottoms up.

I have loved the looks of these trees for a long time! I think they look kinda tropical, I could just sit in the yard in a lawn chair with a sweet tea and pretend I was at the rain forest or something. LOL

I could sneeze just looking at it! We had them in Louisiana. I didn't know they would grow this far north. One of the few things I KNOW I'm allergic to. Lovely, but.......aaaaah choooo!
