Remember in the movie Forest Gump when his friend Bubba recites a big long list of all the ways you can fix shrimp? This is sort of like that. And by the way if you haven't seen Forest Gump you really missed a good one. A dear and health conscious friend of mine from work has given me about 60 pounds of apples over the past month. The house next door to her is currently vacant due to the death of its elderly owner. In the side yard is an heirloom Grimm's Golden apple tree that hasn't been sprayed with pesticides that has THE best surprisingly blemish free apples on it that I have ever eaten. My friend got permission from the owners son to gather the apples and since she lives alone there are way more than she will ever use. So far Andrew and I have made applesauce, canned apple slices, apple butter, caramel apple jam, apple crisp, apple pie, frozen apple slices, dried apple slices and apples treats for the bunnies. And no we are still not tired of apples. I love fall!
